Often referred to as soft cover books, perfect binding is a professional and visually appealing way to produce books and is much less expensive than hard cover books. Perfect bound books can be supplied in a range of sizes and bound on either the long edge (portrait) or the short edge (landscape).

The covers are usually made from a card stock heavier than the inner pages with a square spine. Additionally the covers are often coated with a gloss or matt laminate which not only improves the look but improves the durability.

Something not possible on saddle stitched or other types of books is the ability to print the books title and author amonst other things on the square bound egde produced by the binding process.
